SELFOC® Micro Lens (SML) is a single gradient-index lens (SELFOC® lens).
Due to its cylindrical, flat-end shape, SML can be easily aligned and mounted with minimal transmission loss.
Expecting the increasing needs for much thinner lens, developed a new ultra-thin lens with same diameter as the conventional optical fiber of 125µm and preparing for full-scale production in near future.
Due to its cylindrical, flat-end shape, the transmission loss of SML is minimal when used with other optical components or fibers.
The cylindrical shape of SML makes its handling, alignment, and mounting simple and easy.
The SML is extremely small in comparison with ordinary lenses, its diameter ranging from Φ1mm to Φ4mm depending on the lens type. With its compact dimensions, SML can be used in ultra-compact devices where ordinary lenses are not suitable due to size limitations.
